Transform Your Productivity: Join Our Quarterly "Get It Done" Day

Jul 26, 2024

This week, I partnered with Small Town Start-Up to host a successful Accountability Day in the beautiful downtown Springfield. From 9 AM to 2 PM, a diverse group of individuals gathered for a distraction-free, productivity-boosting event. The day was meticulously structured around four focused sprints designed to maximize attention and minimize interruptions.

Participants thrived in this supportive environment, tackling their tasks with renewed energy and achieving remarkable results. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees eager for more sessions.

Given the success of this event, I'm thrilled to announce that Accountability Days will now be held quarterly under the new name, "Get It Done Day." Want to join the next session? Let me know by scheduling a short meeting. We can discuss your needs and add you to the list for the next day.

Why Body Doubling Works for Productivity

"Get It Done Day" is built around the popularity and effectiveness of body doubling. Popularized by platforms like Focusmate, body doubling involves working alongside another person, in person or virtually, to enhance focus and productivity. This is one reason why you may get more work done at a coffee shop working where others are around you than at home by yourself.

The Science Behind Body Doubling

Increased Accountability: When you know someone else is working alongside you, staying on task is more accessible. The presence of a partner creates a subtle social pressure that encourages focus. Research shows that having an accountability partner can significantly increase adherence to functions and goals.

Structured Sessions: Body doubling often involves predefined work sessions, which add routine and a sense of urgency, helping you manage your time more effectively. Studies on time management and productivity have linked structured work sessions to improved performance and reduced procrastination.

Reduced Isolation: Working with a partner, even virtually, reduces feelings of isolation and fosters a sense of connection. This shared experience can make tackling tasks feel less daunting and more enjoyable. Studies have shown that social support can enhance motivation and performance, particularly in isolated work environments.

Enhanced Focus: Another person's physical or virtual presence can significantly reduce the temptation to procrastinate, leading to higher productivity levels. Research has found that social facilitation, where people perform better on tasks when in the presence of others, can improve productivity and task completion rates.

Our Success with Body Doubling

Our recent Accountability Day, renamed to "Get It Done Day," incorporated these principles, creating a thriving and productive atmosphere. Participants reported heightened focus and were able to complete tasks that had been lingering on their to-do lists for weeks. You can watch what they said about this day here
